The Golf Courses

St George’s Hill

A heathland course on the Surrey/Berkshire sandbelt and another by Harry Colt – with many considering it among his very best work.

The berkshire

Beautifully laid out on 372 acres of stunning Crown Estate heathland in 1928 by Herbert Fowler, who also designed Walton Heath, and Cruden Bay.

SWINLEY FOREST

A wonderful example of strategic design; not long but challenging, and utterly joyous.

SUNNINGDALE (OLD)

Arguably the best inland course in the UK, scarcely altered since Willie Park Jnr created it more than a century ago.

The Hotel

Brown’s Hotel *****

Accommodating the discerning London visitor since 1837, Brown’s is the epitome of understated luxury

Wimbledon

The All England Lawn Tennis Club

It’s as much a British summer tradition as Pimms and strawberries and cream – which are in ample supply – as London turns tennis mad for two weeks each year for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Starting at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 1877, it has become one of the world’s most famous tennis tournaments, and is the only Grand Slam played on grass.
